Since 1980 ,in france, Louis Samuel Barouk and his collaborators, notably Pierre Barouk ,have been providing a significant contribution , bringing new techniques and a new concept of forefoot Surgery
The Techniques : the Scarf Osteotomy, the Weil Osteotomies ,a complete system of great toe first phalanx osteotomies, local surgery of claw toes, the proximal release of the Gastrocnemius… In each technique, the dedicated implants and ancillary were developed |
Application in Forefoot surgery : Correction of Hallux Valgus deformity as well as its consequences, metatarsalgia , claw toes correction, and ,as a summary of all the techniques, Joint Preserving Surgery in severe forefoot disorders, including the rheumatoid forefoot. All these technique and their applications are detailed in the Book “Forefoot Reconstruction” (2005, November. Springer )
